Week 5 Update

Fern Creek Cross Country 2018 Week 5 Update

Assumption JV Race #2 Results – 9/18/2018
It was another warm and muggy evening as most of our JV athletes competed for the second time at EP Tom Sawyer Park.  Despite the tough conditions, it was cool to be able to compare their times from this week to the times from just a few weeks prior.  Most of our athletes had significantly faster times… showing off how much they have improved as they continue to get in better shape.  Keep working hard and those times will keep coming down!

Focus Points:
·       We are well in to our season at this point, and nearing the halfway mark in terms of 5k races.  As you reflect on your season so far, think about what pre-race routines work well for you.  What meals help you to perform your best?  What routines the night before?  Have you been stretching, getting to bed early, and eating a healthy breakfast?  Races are never won in the days and weeks before, BUT THEY CAN BE LOST!
·       After a scorching and hilly course last weekend, we return to normalcy with moderate temperatures.  You should be able to push the pace a little bit this weekend, especially if you are in the 4k race.
·       For our girls, we are going to run you in varsity so that you can get a taste of what it’s all about.  RUN YOUR RACE.  Too many of our girls are trying to support their teammates by pairing/partnering up.  In practice, that’s fine, but in a race, YOU need to show YOUR ability and reach YOUR potential.  I’m excited to watch you run!
·       On the Boys side, our goal is simple.  Compete to win the meet.  Doesn’t mean it is going to happen, but we can definitely put ourselves in a good position to win this meet.  Do everything right this week and let’s go for it.
