Highlights:
·
The following runners all completed their first 5k race! Sair, Dawayad,
Youhana, Weston, Sam, Jayden, Wisdom, Jackson, Dakota, Keyanna, Sara. Nice.
Work! Most high schoolers will never be willing to embrace the struggle
that you just went through!
·
The following runners all ran PR (Personal
Record) times: Frank, Hayden, Levi (by about 2 minutes!!!!!).
·
Dakota Vincent was told he only had to run 2
miles… and ran all 3 anyways. #toughness
·
Sair broke the 17 minute mark in his first
cross-country race! Dawayad showed how
hard he worked over the summer in Massachusetts and I think we have Frank
convinced he’s a runner and not a basketball player!
·
Weston absolutely crushed his first 5k race! He
ran faster in his first race than Fern Creek / Berea College runner Kyle Young did in his high school
debut. Kyle eventually went on to run 17:13 as a senior… No pressure, just
sayin’
·
Sara Barnett passed several other ladies over
the second half of the race and showed mental toughness in working her way up.
·
Shout out to all of the parents/families that
made it out to support you! Wow! I’m not sure we’ve ever had that many parents
and family members hanging around the tent.
Great to see so many of you.
Focus Areas for Next
Week:
·
A tough, tough, tough week of training
ahead. Varsity has about two weeks until
their next race, JV about a week and a half.
This week is very important for us to get better and faster. Eat well, sleep well, take care of your body
so that you can improve from 2:30-4:30 each day (3:30 – 5:00 on Tuesday).
·
All athletes need to make sure they are
communicating with Coach Redies regarding practices and meet availability. Several athletes are starting to slip in this
regard, and consequences will be implemented if the trend continues.
·
I want everyone to identify two things that you could have done better on Saturday. I will be asking you about these on
Monday. Enjoy the rest of your day and
get that school work knocked out!
